Hamden and the Superfund either are or will be remedying the honest environmental problems associated with the middle school site, but I am more concerned with the Globe Metal Finishing site. For over half a century metal parts were electroplated at that site. Environmental concerns and OSHA regulations were frequently skirted and occasionally ignored. Cyanide and heavy metals were used extensively in the operation, and I expect that significant quantities of these substances have seeped into the soil. I strongly recommend that the property at 400 Goodrich Street be suitably evaluated and tested.
